UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA CHESS CLUB: We have players of all skill levels -from those just learning how to move the pieces, to the well advanced. All skill levels are welcome! Our primary mission is to play, compete, and
learn chess in a relaxed atmosphere. However, for those who are more competitive we also have several chess teams that compete against other colleges in the area. Our website is: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~chess

NORTH SUBURBAN:
An informal chess group that meets Wednesdays from 6-9 PM at Barnes and Noble bookstore in the Har Mar Mall. This seems to be the largest gathering of players who are just looking for causual games.  For information contact Art Fisher (651) 426-2406 or Duane at (651) 773-3135. Class A, B, C, D boards available.

THE WEST SUBURBAN CHESS CLUB:
formerly the Plymouth Chess Club, recently changed its club location to Borders Book Shop and Cafe in Minnetonka, near the Ridgedale Shopping Center. THE CHESS FIENDS:
at the Calf Fiend Cafe in Redwood Falls from 5-11 on Mondays. The location is a bit noisy, bring ear plugs for those that this bothers, but otherwise very nice. They'll run rated quads for starters until they see enough to run a club tourney, and also a club rating system to encourage the new players in the area to join. Lots of new players expected, so it would be nice to have some rated players for them to play. Contact James Kanne at Jkanne@means.net for additional info.
