Bloomington Chess Camp, Ramalynn

Montessori [Chess Club of Minnesota]

This camp is led by FIDE Master Eduard Zelkind.

Tournament games, chess puzzles, lectures, blitz,

bughouse and more are all part of the chess

curriculum, as well as sports and play outdoors, board

games and other activities. Cost is $199 for the week,

led by Mr. Zelkind and The Chess Club of Minnesota

Chess Camp, Chanhassen Recreation Center

[Chess Club of Minnesota]

The Chess Club of MN returns to the Chanhassen Rec

Center. The camp, lead by Igor Rybakov, Tim Lee, and

Pat LaVone, will feature two learning tracks, one for

beginner/standard players and one for intermediate/

advanced players. Quick chess and “classic time

control” tournaments will be held (including a USCF

rated tournament), as well as lectures, puzzle solving

contests, etc. There will be time for breaks in the Rec

Center gym, board games, video games, and more.

Cost is $199 for the week. A $120 half-day option is

Open 7pm Mondays, 7pm Thursdays, with events on most

weekends. Regular events are USCF rated, and include:

Format may vary depending on participants

Reg: 6:30-7pm. Clocks start 7:15pm [done about 10PM].

EF: $10. PZ: 60% entries awarded as prizes, depending on

participation.

Thursday Knighters:

4 or 5 SS running each Thursday of the month, starting at

7:30 p.m. TL: Game/2 hrs. EF: $13. REG: First

Thursday. PZ: Winners get free or reduced entry next

month and a point towards the Club Championship. Most

games completed by 11:00.

The Chess Club of Minnesota

The club offers chess activities at various locations,

including free casual chess on Monday nights at Borders

Books in Minnetonka. Chess is also held on Wednesday

nights at locations in Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, and Maple

Grove. Check the web site for more information.

The club is now offering more regular, organized events.

The Chess Club strives to fill a niche in the local chess

market, offering free casual chess to adults and kids alike, at

various locations, with occasional tournaments and events.

Most events are offered in faster time controls, typically G/20

or faster, with occasional slower time control competitions

as well. Some are USCF rated, most are not. For more
